Mission and Vision

The organisation shares all principles, goals, vision and the mission of the Resource Management Somali Network. 7th RMSN annual General Meetingwas held in Galkayo, Mudug Region,in August 2003 and hosted by Our organisation

Background of the Organization

We were one of the founders of Natural Resource Management NRM currently known as RMSN,when the Network was established in 1996 at Buran Rural Institute of Sanag Region.
At The beginning the organisation Founders were two persons while today members consist of four senior persons(three female and a male and twentyfive trainned extensionist all over our Mudug region.

Since The Inception of Environmental Mudug Team, the team received a remarkable support from a local strong Local NGO called Somali Women Concern (SWC) based in Galkacyo and established 1988 before the civil war.

In Mudug Region we were the first organisation to start activities when extensive wild life. Female animals exported to the Arabian countries.Our staff members comprising of two senior personell and five trained Extensionist succeeded to spread awareness programmes all over the region and surrounding Regions like Nugal etc.

From The beginning Mudug Team with the support of sisterly Organization SWC together built the foundation of the Team Capacity i.e. Training of Extentionts, dissemination of awareness massages, lopping to stop the Illegal exportation of the wild life and female animals, working village elders and chiefs to act and produce regulations protecting the wild life and exportation of a female animals.

Objectives:

For the experience of the Environmental operations, Mudug Team Realized the need of greater awareness to the communities related to the protection of the environment, marine and wild life to do so, Mudug Team Has set up the following Objectives bases on awareness building to the communities specially pastrolists the set objectives are as follows:

• To Protect killing, poaching and transportation of wild life species
• To protect Exportation of female animals
• To protect cutting of trees for housing and burning the trees for charcoal exportation.
• To disseminate holistic management skills and its benefit through out the country more attention to the Rainfall Effectiveness to all the areas that RMSN Mudug Team Operates.
• To train and orient local villagers to help the land and marine protection.
• To Disseminate awareness massages concerning protection of all non environmental friendly items who are poisoning the environment like all plastic materials, dumping of west materials in the oceans that kills Billions of marine life’s.
• To Strength the environmental programme partners including Village community elders, chiefs, Village Extentionists, NGO,s and all Environmental Friendly groups, Individuals etc
• To encourage the revival of all environmental friendly items and equipment for house hold uses and eradication of plastics in all kinds.

• To Disseminate written awareness articles and dramas related to the protection of the environment through out Somalia and cross border operation partners.
• To share Experiences and cross visit operations to the other RMSN teams that have common problems and seek updating, in formations and experiences related to how to protect the environment through RMSN coordination, Internet, RMSN Consultant and other environmental friendly people.

Organizational structure

Currently Mudug Team has the following Structure one after another

• Senior and junior members who are Mainly founders (Team Leader and Financial Person and Interested Members)
• Team Extensionts – Trained Individuals mostly village based who are Environmental disseminators and activists
• Partners who help the programme success, contributions (Financial, material, Equipment, Ideas etc) Like major Contributor (SWC)
• Village Elders Committees- mainly committees who signed rules protecting the environment and wild life’s and responsible implementation in a sustainable level
• Beneficiaries- All communities benefiting the programme and applying .the holistic management techniques

Mudug Team Members

The Team members That We have Identifies are four senior officers and 25 Village extensionts. The Village extortionist are always increase in numbers according to the need and the request of new villages, the extentionists joined becaoiuse of their Interest as well as permanently located the village, the current members are as follows:

Working Experience

Mudug Team worked this field for the past 7 yrs and produced a number of awareness booklets, conducted workshops, Siminars, focus group discussions, dramas and physical works (demonstration sites).

SOURCE OF FUNDINGS:

Currently Mudug Team receives funding from Novib Netherlands, through RMSN coordination and Somali Women Concern who offer Office space, office Equipments, and all kinds of printings of Deegaan News Letter and awareness massages and Support of Dramas for encouraging environmental friendly groups and condemning environmental abusers that SWC received funding from Oxfam Canada

Areas Of Operation

Environmental awareness programmes related To the extensive cutting of Gud (Yicib) trees for housing purposes and helping Nugal Region for providing
Awareness massages and lectures
On the occasions of Siminars that many people from The Whole Region (Nugal) come together like teachers, Women etc.

Interventions In the management environmental Sector:

Mudug Team voluntarily support all interventions that improves the management of the environment sector like loppy of Punt land parliament who passed several legislations and acts prohibiting charcoal burning and three cutting, female animals, and wild life exportation and also ban of plastic pages importation who has hazardous sequels health problems,

Mudug Team also Intervene cross border interventions that mudug team supported stopping of cutting Gud trees that produces Yicib 90% located Ethiopian border, again Mudug Team shares RMSN all environmental publications including Deegaan News latter that Mudug Team Prepared and disseminated

Reports studies and publications

Mudug team published the followings Since the Inception
1. Three yrs publication of quarterly “”Deegaan”“ Environmental News letter
2. Collection of three yrs of Deegaan News In a one Book form for 800 copies
3. Manual for environmental trainers 200 Copies
4. Plastic management booklet 1000 copies
5. One Page Quick Awareness massage for environmental protection and radio guide 1000 copies
6. Regular radio programme monthly for four yrs
7. Workshops Reports (participants for village extortionists and interest groups
8. Two Dramas for environmental friendly and abusers. Two volumes
9. Data collection of wild life in Mudug Region specifically Jariban district and Garacad coastal village.
10. Quarterly and Bi annually Reports of Mudug Team since 1997
11. Cross visit Reports Hope for the horn and RMSN Sool Team
12. Mudug Team recommendations related to ways of stopping the charcoal exportation and financial and moral support to the people engaged to the charcoal.
13. Training of EET Newly Joined Team in Galkacyo (Two Times)
14. Regular lectures for our environment today every possible workshop that Mudug team members invited minimum of one hour.
15. Advocate for RMSN for International meetings and out of Somalia Conferences.
16. Hosting and preparation of 7th General RMSN Report
17. Active Members for reconciliation for miss understandings B/w the Team members and the larger Network
18. Volunteered to Republish Final RMSN training Manual after collection of all comments and contributions from the RMSN teams.
